If you read the beautiful’s words over at Back to Her Roots, you’ll know that Friday was obviously a big day for the Johnston household. Well, Thursday was actually the big day, but the announcement was made on Friday, which meant that the world was now aware of the fact that my wife would be leaving her job, effective the end of January. I’m not really going to touch on this much, since she already laid it all out, but I will say that I am extremely proud of her and am so incredibly excited for all of the amazing things she’s going to do.

Starting with this salad cabbage.

Now, despite the fact that it’s a stone’s throw away from the Trader Joe’s we always go to, Friday was also the first time that we made our way into Whole Foods. We wanted to check it out because we were hoping we could find a lot of local foods in there to help us on our whole eating locally adventure, which we did, but do you know what else we found?

Scoop your own shrimp? That place is for real.

It’s like a local co-op style market and Trader Joe’s did the horizontal polka and gave birth to the most kick-ass baby imaginable. And my favourite part? Aside from their massive selection of craft beer, they fill growlers! That’s fantastic!

Almost as fantastic as this.

A glass of beer? While I shop? That baby just got a whole lot cooler. I’m talking “Look Who’s Talking” cool.

I think it’s safe to say we’ll be making many a repeat trips to Whole Foods in the event that we haven’t managed to get everything we need from our CSA, which once again made us super happy people when we picked it up on Friday. I’ll let Cassie tell you all about that later in the week, though!

The rest of the weekend found us going to the dentist and cleaning and blogging and eating and hanging out with our adorable animals and watching football and making fire starters and all that jazz, so I’m going to save you from the boredom of that run down and leave you with this picture of some adorable.
